Manka-te Tainha Zine #0

Over the years a lot of stuff has changed in the skateboarding world…from illegal to mainstream hype, from street skating with wax on the back pocket to entry-payed skate parks, one thing I still think is not lost nor forgotten is the D.I.Y. spirit.

For me skateboarding is supposed to be raw and ugly. Dirty clothes and sweaty t’shirts, bruises and bad jokes, that’s what I want coming from the skate world. And this new online magazine delivers it.

Manka-te Tainha is from Almada, you can tell just from the first pages, and it’s clearly from the kids to the kids…taking advantage of technology without making it the main feature on the zine, they managed to bring something new in a way to the portuguese skateboarding scene, with a good graphic sense and a very nice and funny touch on the interviews and reports.
If features everything I love ’bout street culture: skate, graff, music and most of all the wisdom of the spoken word. A good effort from which I hope to see many new editions in the future.

If you’re into skate, you gonna dig this. If you’re not, don’t even bother clicking on the links lol.
