Swansea Love Story

Again I bring you an online documentary that I got to know through another blog.

Miguel made a brief post about Swansea Love Story some weeks ago, maybe last month, and almost by random chance I ended up sticking with it on my free time, again watching it on small slices.
But this is no light film to watch on a lazy Sunday afternoon, quite the contrary. Swansea Love Story tells us of the rise in heroin use in the city of Swansea, powered by unemployment and complicated family/social backgrounds.

We are introduced to Amy and Cornelius, a couple of heroin-addicts and alcoholics that share a love for heroin and also their needles. A lot of stories connect through the common ground of drug use, and we slowly realize how rotten and fucked up people become due to heroin and other drugs, ultimately turning Swansea into a rotten city.

There are a lot of shocking scenes, a lot of disgusting needles being stuck in the veins, but this film shows nothing more than the reality of those lives.
If you are not afraid of this kind of images, go for it. It’s one of those films where you end up rethinking about your own problems and getting to the conclusion that your life doesn’t suck not even for a tinny little bit when compared to the people on camera.

WATCH THE MOVIE (it’s divided in 6 parts, VBS.TV has a lot of other great films, check it)

Hei-de ver quando houver disposição para tal. Provavelmente já viste, mas vale sempre a pena lembrar o quão bom o Trainspotting é. Vi recentemente e adorei.

Mundo da droga é pesado mesmo.
