Blindness

The first thought that occurred right after the end of this movie was: now I know why José Saramago cried at the end of the screening.

To see something you’ve created be taken care with so much passion and be shown to the world with such a great vision really is impressive. Fernando Meirelles, the director, did an great job (at least from the perspective of someone who didn’t read the book).
I’m not gonna dissect the movie into technical details and stuff ’bout the performances of the actors, cause most of all this is a movie that makes you think. It raises so many questions ’bout humanity itself that I find it hard to believe that the screenplay managed to explore the real depth of the book.

Three things I’ve kept after watching Blindness:

  • I wanna read something from Saramago.
  • I’d like to be blindfolded for one day, just to somehow experience what the characters feel after going all “white”.
  • I’m prideful to have such a brilliant work coming from the minds of people from my country and/or that speak my language.
